United Methodist Churches and Boy Scouts of America

10/13/2020

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oct. 13, 2020

Many of our United Methodist churches serve their community by chartering a Boy Scout troop or a Cub Scout pack. Perhaps your church is one. If your church is currently serving, or has in the past served as the chartering institution, we need your help.

Legal issues surrounding the impending bankruptcy of the Boy Scouts of America could impact chartering organizations, including our churches. Our conference chancellor wants to compile a list of churches that currently, or in the past has been the chartering organization for cub packs or scout troops. This will allow the chancellor to communicate what actions churches may need to take in the near future.

If your church has chartered a troop, please complete the form below.

A legal deadline is coming up regarding indemnification. Due to that impending deadline, this is not a matter on which you should tarry. Please submit this information today.
