The Pointe Expresses Desire to Leave The United Methodist Church

Greetings Mississippi Conference,

The members of The Pointe United Methodist Church in Brandon recently participated in a called church conference to individually affirm membership or withdraw from The United Methodist Church.

Please accept this communication as our commitment to transparency to keep you informed of ongoing processes. The Pointe continues as a United Methodist Church of the Mississippi Annual Conference with Rev. Jim Taylor as the appointed senior pastor, and Rev. Todd Sanders as appointed associate pastor. The completion of this called church conference continues the process of discerning the viability of this church and its future with The United Methodist Church.

During the conference, the congregation entered a season of prayer and participated in a Membership Affirmation where they individually declared their desires to remain a member of The United Methodist Church or to withdraw their membership. Of the members present, 112 persons decided to withdraw their membership from The Pointe United Methodist Church and The United Methodist Church and none decided to remain members of The Pointe United Methodist Church or The United Methodist Church. Withdrawals will become effective upon the announcement by the district superintendent of the results of the paragraph 213 process in the near future.

I solicit your prayers for The Pointe United Methodist Church, their servant leaders and all involved in this matter as we continue to hear God’s voice and be led by the Holy Spirit.
