The Gathering is Back

The Gathering 2019.
After a two-year absence we are excited to report The Gathering is back. Youth from across the connection will gather the weekend of February 25 at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson for the biggest Jesus party of the year.

“We are so excited to have the opportunity to rejoin all the student ministries from around the conference,” said Mike Howington, Mississippi Conference Youth and Family Ministries Coordinator. “Nice to bring all these churches back together for a celebration of the Kingdom.”

In the spirit of being back together the theme this year is Reunion, and all the artists coming this year are Gathering alumni. Christian band Newsboys United will be performing, Phil Joel will be leading worship and Gerald Fadaymi will be speaking. In addition, Big Al and DJ Blaha will be making a return to lead worship.

Thrilled to break out of the confines caused by the pandemic and isolation, youth and youth leaders are excited to be able to come together for the high-energy weekend conference. Corey Phillips, youth pastor at Madison United Methodist Church will be bringing about 120 students and is eagerly anticipating the grand event.

“We’re pumped to be back,” said Phillips. “The Gathering gives us an opportunity to have a speakers, bands and entertainment we wouldn’t normally be able to have at our youth meetings.”

Phillips will have masks and sanitizer on hand for youth that need them, and The Gathering will follow conference health and safety guidelines. Which include mask wearing and social distancing.

The Gathering is for Mississippi students grades 6-12, and there is still time to sign up. If you or any youth group is interested in participating, follow the link here to register.
