Student Ministry Initiative

The Mississippi Conference is excited to offer an incredible leadership opportunity for Student Ministry leaders—the Student Ministry Initiative.

We have partnered with Mark DeVries—author of Sustainable Youth Ministry—and the Ministry Architects team to create three virtual training opportunities. These trainings will each be hosted on Zoom. You are invited to be a part of each live session/discussion. For those who cannot participate live, or who would like to review, the trainings will be posted on the conference social media spaces.

Mark your calendars for the following dates:

First Training - Thursday, March 11 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Mark DeVries will lead “Sustainable Youth Ministry Now What?”
This will look at how our systems have probably crashed during the past 12 months. How do we re-lay the groundwork for sustainable ministry?

Second Training - Thursday, April 13 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Trey Wince will lead “Restoring Momentum.”
This session is going to dive into how we in student ministry can start to build back the momentum that was stolen from us by the pandemic. We will talk about building momentum in relationships, programs, retreats, Sunday school, local schools, missions, etc.

Third Training - Thursday, May 11 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.
Stephanie Caro will lead “Small Group Rebirth.”
How do we re-launch effective and impactful small groups in our current world? It is a challenge to create the community we once had so naturally. In this session, we will dive into some strategies to start moving in that direction.
Please put these dates on your calendars now and make plans to join us! Your live participation is an integral part of these sessions!
