Miss. Sets New Single-day High with COVID Cases

Brothers and sisters in Christ,

Today we’ve set a new single-day record of new COVID-19 cases—over 2,400—and 15 additional deaths here in Mississippi. State health officer, Dr. Thomas Dobbs shared that, “our hospitalizations are growing at a rate that is absolutely terrifying. Without a doubt, I think we’re headed into the darkest period of the coronavirus for Mississippi.”
In light of conversation with a medical professional from the pandemic task team, the climbing new case numbers and the recommendations of the Mississippi Department of Health pictured above, we strongly recommend that all churches suspend all in-person church-related activities including worship at this time.

You will recall that we have advised in several of our previous communiques that you adhere to the guidance of your state and local health officials. It is paramount to our commitment as people of faith to do no harm by not only staying abreast of, but also observing Mississippi Department of Health guidance.
Due to these recent developments, we also encourage you to remain in touch with your leadership teams as we seek to live into the season of Advent in these days. Thank you in advance for your immediate assistance and adherence to this request. The pandemic task team will meet next week, so regularly check your email and/or conference social media for additional updates in the near future.
Praying that your soul prospers as your health prospers.
