March 11 Pandemic Task Team Update

Brothers and sisters in Christ,

We have hit the one year mark of journeying together along this pandemic path and there are still so many things that we do not know and cannot predict. However, a year later we do know some best practices to utilize in efforts to reduce the risk of transmitting the coronavirus.

In this update, the pandemic task team expressed a desire to share with you the conversations around how they arrive at guidance and updates for the Mississippi Conference. In this video update, a panel of three pandemic task team members share what the team considers when they gather. Click here or on the image below to watch this update.

Best Practices for those resuming (or considering) in-person:

  1. Gold standard – wear a mask, use hand sanitizer, social distance at least six feet apart
  2. Project hymns on screen, minimizing touch by not using hymn books
  3. Use mitigation devices: bipolar ionization and ultraviolet light
  4.  Temperature checks
  5. Use digital bulletin, reduce touch by not handing out bulletins
  6. Use individual Communion cups
  7. Place common collection plate at entrance or exit; no passing the plate
