Rev. James Genesse
Bishop James E. Swanson Sr. has appointed Rev. James Genesse to be the new district superintendent of the Senatobia District. For the last seven years Genesse has served as the senior pastor at Madison United Methodist Church.  Previous appointments include First UMC, Long Beach; Christ UMC, Jackson; Christ – Lebanon Charge, Booneville and Williamsburg – Lone Star Charge, Collins.

Prior to entering full time ministry Genesse was the deputy director for plans and operations of the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). He holds a B.A. in Geography from the University of Miami, a M.S. in Geography and Area Planning from the University of Southern Mississippi and received his M.Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary.

Jim has been married for 31 years to Margaret Dunnam Genesse and they have one adult son Mike and his wife Kailey.

“I am humbled by the bishop’s invitation to join his cabinet and serve the Mississippi Conference in this new way. My heart is very much in the local church and I look forward to being in ministry alongside of the pastors and congregations of the Senatobia District as we share the Good News of Christ in word and deed.”
