Millsaps College Honors Rev. Ricky James

The Rev. Ricky James, who has served as senior pastor at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Jackson since 2010 providing pastoral and administrative leadership to a growing parish of more than 300 members and a 12-member staff, is the 2014 Millsaps College Outstanding Young Alumnus. He was honored during the Millsaps College Alumni Awards ceremony on October 24 that was part of homecoming activities.
James earned a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and religious studies from Millsaps College in 2004, a Master of Divinity from Duke University in 2007 and expects to receive a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Emory University, Candler School of Theology in May 2017.  He is a graduate of the Business Advantage Program offered by the Else School of Management at Millsaps College.
James serves on the board of directors for the Center for Ministry at Millsaps College and as chair of the Higher Education and Campus Ministries Committee of the Mississippi Annual Conference. He served as a delegate to the General and Southeastern Jurisdictional Conferences of The United Methodist Church in 2000 and 2012 and is currently a member of the Committee on Coordination and Accountability for the Southeastern Jurisdiction.
James is married to Megan Shaw James, a Millsaps graduate who is assistant dean of students at Millsaps.
