Women’s health fair set on coast

Ocean Springs St. Paul United Methodist Women and St. Paul Health and Welfare Ministry present “Strictly Female: Developing a Wellness Mindset,” a women’s health forum and fair.

The event is set for 8 a.m. Aug. 8 at the East Campus of St. Paul UMC located at the intersection of Mississippi 57 and U.S. 90.

Diane Chaney and Nancy Wilson, co-chairs of the event, stress that this event is intentionally designed to provide expert, helpful information to females of all ages. It is also tailored to make women aware of the strong connection between mind, body, and spirit and the wise choices we can make for longer and healthier lives.

The day will begin with more than 20 health fair vendors – bone density, BMI and blood pressure screenings; massage therapy; yoga and pilates demonstrations, and more.

The forum portion will begin at 9:30 a.m. with two keynote speakers. David McAfee, M.D., president of e-Fitness and Wellness, will speak on the role of women and compassion in health care. Richard Eubanks, M.D., cardio-vascular surgeon, will discuss heart disease prevention for women.

Two 40–minute breakout sessions will follow and include topics such as mindful parenting, osteoporosis prevention, meditation and stress management, depression and women in the life cycle and maximizing health through better nutrition.

A closing worship presented by St. Paul United Methodist Women will conclude the day’s event.

Morning coffee and snacks will be provided by e-Fitness and Wellness and a light, healthy lunch by Cedar Lake Surgery. A nursery will be provided.

A complete agenda and presenter bios are located at St. Paul’s web site www.stpaulos.org.
