New Albany plans small church conference


In response to ministry needs derived from the A-2 assessment tools, the New Albany District and Hinton Rural Life Center have joined together to sponsor a ministry conference for small membership and rural congregations in the Mississippi Conference.

The event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 21 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church located on County Road 81 North in New Albany.

The goal is to have the pastor and at least two laity (hopefully one between 18-35 years of age) from each church will attend the conference. 

Hinton Rural Life Center team is tailoring the content of the conferencebased on the A-2 assessment and A-29 follow up needs of the churches in the New Albany District.

Areas of training event include:
• Motivation for ministry
• Visioning and planning
• Outreach to larger community
• Youth and children’s ministry

Practical step-by-step suggestions in all of the above areas will be offered.

Lunch will be served to those how register before March 18, and a nursery will be provided.

Hinton Rural Life Center is a mission agency of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church. Hinton was formed in 1960 as a resource and advocate for rural and smaller membership churches in the Southeast. It is located in the Appalachian mountains of southwestern North Carolina, 100 miles west of Asheville, 100 miles east of Chattanooga, and 100 miles north of Atlanta.
