ABERDEEN — India Walker Belle, a clergy spouse, 82, died Nov. 20, 2008, at the Care Center of Aberdeen.

Services were held Nov. 24 at St. Peter United Methodist Church in Aberdeen with the Rev. Benjamin Wax officiating. Burial was in the Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jared Howell, Jerry Mitchell, Frank Walker, Roy Hazzle Sr., Marlin Presley, Darnell Walker. Honorary pallbearers were Wilchie Clay, Fernando Davis, Johnny Walker, William Benjamin Harris and William White. Belle Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.

She was a graduate of Aberdeen School. She received a B.A. degree in English from Rust College. She taught for 43 years in the Aberdeen School District. She participated in several civic activities. She was a member of Heroines of Jericho, Mississippi Teachers Association, Aberdeen Garden Improvement Club and the Candy Striper Hospital Club.

She was preceded in death by William “Bill” Walker, Callie Walker Pruitt, Earnestine Walker, Earnestine “Peggy” Walker, Dora Walker Brownlee, Edward Walker, Earnest Walker Jr., Charles Walker, James Walker, Velma Walker Whitfield, John Walker, Clarence Walker and Harold Walker.

Survivors include:r husband, the Rev. Preston C. Belle.
