Slow hectic pace, invite Jesus to celebration

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.” — Luke 2:14

Here we are in the holidays again, racing to get things done so that we can enjoy everything that we do. I wonder what Jesus says about how his birthday is being celebrated? It's done like this every year, and I sometimes get depressed about how it is being celebrated. Jesus is being left out of his own birthday. We seem to put more effort each year just shopping and seeing what we can buy.

The Bible tells us there was a crowd in the city and it was noisy. It was time for people to pay their taxes and they had to go to Bethlehem because Joseph had to be registered with Mary who was with child. They were there trying to find shelter.

They arrived in time to find that there were no rooms anywhere in the city. They could only find shelter in a stable. As they settled in, they heard people going own about their business not knowing what has happened inside the stable that night. Jesus made no noise as he lay in the manager. I believe the animals knew because they stayed quite. People continued to go about their own business not even aware of what was going on in the stable.

Well, life hasn't change a bit since the night that Jesus Christ was born. The world keeps going around, Jesus continues to take second choice and we put everything ahead of him. We're too busy going all around doing things getting ready for the big day. We must find out how to change people's minds, get Christ back into Christmas and enjoy a day with him as we should.

Let's invite Jesus to have Christmas with us. If we offered him a spot would he join us? I know he will. Let’s invite the guest of honor.
