Alcorn Wesley Foundation plans gospel concert


The Wesley Foundation at Alcorn State University plans to kickoff homecoming week with a gospel concert.

The free event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Oct. 19 and will feature the Alcorn Gospel Choir and Alcorn Interfaith Choir and Alcorn Male Chorale. The concert will be held in the Campus Union ballroom.

The event will also feature the Jubilee Singers, under the direction of Hinds Community College Wesley Foundation Director the Rev. Dr. Bobby Cooper of Utica. Other guests will include the Rev. Haywood Hannah of Wesley Chapel UMC in Carthage, J. Myles Ministries of WPRL 90.1 FM, Mississippi Voices of Praise of Columbia, the Family Connection Choir, soloist Larry Brown of Natchez and Psalmist Tara Johnson of Prentiss. Conference Lay Leader Timothy Crisler, also an Alcorn Wesley Foundation honorary board member, will bring greetings to Alcorn community in attendance.

The event is part of the regular “Semester of Revivals” held on the second and third Sundays of each month at Wesley Foundation at Alcorn. The Rev. Vera Hall Stamps directs the ASU Wesley Foundation.
