Evangelist Johnstone speaks at Druid Hills UMC

Evangelist Bruce Johnstone recently spoke at Druid Hills United Methodist Church in Meridian

Johnstone, of Hanson Ky., is preparing with his wife Eva to make another mission trip to Russia. On his trips, Johnstone takes a variety of items. He gives a Christian tract and bracelet to people he meets and asks that they become prayer warriors.

During the past years the Johnstones have been on 21 mission trips, including four to the Dominican Republic, one to Ghana and two to South America. His most recent calling was to do service in Russia, and he has made 14 trips to Siberia and Tver in Russia. He goes to Russia every year for about six week at a time.

Johnstone takes 500 Bibles with him to Russia. Because toiletry items are hard for the average person to get in Russia, he makes "Love Packs," consisting of 500 bars of soap, 500 tubes of tooth paste, 500 tooth brushes and other items to go with the Bibles.

The Rev. David Meadows is pastor at Druid Hill UMC.
