Pleasant Valley UMC celebrates new building


Palm Sunday was extra special this year for Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Heidelberg.

The day marked the church's first service in its new building after the previous building was damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The Rev. Clint Gill, interim superintendent of the Hattiesburg District, was the guest speaker.

The day kicked of a special Holy Week. Guest speaker for Monday night was the Rev. John Woods, pastor of Bay Springs United Methodist Church. 

Bishop Hope Morgan Ward led consecration services on Tuesday. Ward spoke from Ephesians 2:8. Guest choirs during the service were William Chapel United Methodist Church and the Leona Youth Choirs from the Paulding charge where the Rev. Tanya Evans is the pastor. Lenora Carr also sang Precious Lord.

Wednesday night's message was brought by the Rev. H.C. Hicks, pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Heidelberg along with his choir and church family. Completing the week of services was the Rev. JaMar Jackson, pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Ellisville, along with his choir.
