Prentiss County Cluster youth organize

Youth took over the March 16 meeting of the Prentiss County Cluster held at Wheeler United Methodist Church.

Invited to meet as part of the regular cluster meeting to worship and consider organizing as a youth cluster and to consider future youth gatherings, most of the 75 people who attended the cluster meeting were youth.

Wheeler UMC Youth Director Jessica White led the meeting and arranged for Crimson Flood of New Albany to perform.

The gathering was visited by Lou Ann Staggs of the New Albany District office and the Rev Amanda Seward, associate pastor at New Albany First UMC and New Albany District youth coordinator.

The young people selected Hilary Glover of Wheeler UMC as convener/president, Chris Shadburn of Booneville Grace UMC as facilitator/program chair and Heather Kelly of Jumpertown UMC as secretary/treasurer. One hundred dollars was raised as seed money to fund future plans. The youth tentatively plan to meet again at 6:30 p.m. May 19 at Booneville First UMC.

The youth challenged themselves to have 200 at the next happening.
