Unveiling set for floodwall muralof Methodist who planned city


A mural honoring Newit Vick, who laid out the plans for the city of Vicksburg, will be unveiled Feb. 16.

Called the “Newit Vick/Methodist Mural,” the ceremony begins at 11 a.m. at the downtown floodwall. In case of rain it will be held at the Crawford Street United Methodist Church

The mural depicts an early log cabin church with Vick accepting a Bible from a circuit rider on horseback with groups of people looking on.
