Prayer ministry needs VIPs

The United Methodist Hour is looking for VIPs  – Volunteers in Prayer.

The Hour’s Prayer Ministry operates in connection with its television and radio programs.

The Prayer Line, which receives almost 2,000 calls each year, is answered by staff members on weekdays, but volunteers take calls from Sunday morning viewers and listeners.

Volunteers in Prayer answer these calls from 7-9:30 on Sunday mornings. The Prayer Line is transferred to a phone that is convenient for the VIPs - a home phone, phone at church, or cell phone. The Hour needs individuals or groups who are willing to serve as VIPs.

Volunteers receive an instruction folder and a postage-paid envelope in which to return the call log (where basic information about each call is recorded).

Most volunteers answer the Prayer Line one Sunday morning a year. Groups such as Sunday School classes and United Methodist Women units volunteer for one month and divide the Sundays among their members.
