Sunrise gives new chance to serve God

“And God said, ‘Let there be light.’ And there was light.” — Genesis 1:3

The first chapter of Genesis tells about God creating the Earth in six days. One of his creations was light. He called the light day and the darkness was night. By doing this, God created the first day, and he had a reason for doing so. He created everything for you and me to use and glorify him.

I believe that on that first morning as he watched the sun rise he was thinking about you and me.

I believe that God is still working on his creation today. Each morning as I awake, I can see where God has created another day, another sunrise for me to see and, yes, another day to be a part of his world. Just as he knew me during the creation and had plans for me, he still has a reason for my presence in his world. As I look toward the morning sun, listen to the birds sing and feel the breeze touch my face, I think, yes, there’s a living, loving God who created this day and allowed me to be a part of it. We often think about special days, but each and every day is special because God created the day, woke each of us up and invited us to be a part of it.

What do we think about when a new morning arises? Are we quick to think about how things may go bad or our troubles? Or, are we willing to look at the day with great expectations of knowing that something great is going to happen? God has given each of us a new morning and it is up to us how we spend it; whether it be with joy or grief, he has placed it in our hands. God has prepared the day and has put it all together for and promised to help us each step of the way. We can enjoy the day and everything with it or we can look at all the bad. God gives us the day, and how we spend it depends on us.

Psalm 118:24 reads: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it.” Let’s learn to take each day one at a time. Be thankful for everything he gives us each day. We’re only promised today, and we need to make the best of it by serving him. Make each day the best day of your life.
