MERIDIAN — Helen Gower Skelton, 82, a clergy spouse, of Dalewood, died Monday, July 2, 2007.


Services were held July 6 at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Davey Wilkinson, Howard McKee and Katie Lake officiating. Pallbearers were her grandsons and great-grandsons. Burial was in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.


Mrs. Skelton was a member of Lauderdale United Methodist Church and Nurses Association of Mississippi. She was the spouse of the Rev. George Alva Skelton, a retired clergy member of the Mississippi Conference of The United Methodist

Church, and the mother of the Rev. Barry Skelton of Quitman, also a member of the Mississippi Conference. She retired after 20 years with East Mississippi Health Services.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.A. “Pop” and Mom Gower, and 10 brothers and sisters.


Other survivors include: daughters, Lea Kay Brandt of Houston, Paula Givens of Quitman and Cindy Peden, Hattiesburg; sister, Bobbie Webb of Meridian; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
