HATTIESBURG — Rev. B.P. Jackson Jr., 84, of Purvis, a retired clergy member of the Mississippi Conference of The United Methodist Church, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, in Forrest General Hospital.


Services were held June 28 at Spring Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Curtis Cain officiated. Burial was in Spring Creek Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers were Darrel Snow, Charles Wayne Jackson, Brian Jackson, Ivy Vowell, Michael Tolbert and James (Bodie) Tolbert. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services handled arrangements.


Rev. Jackson served in World War II in Italy and North Africa, receiving the Purple Heart, Oak Leaf and EAME Campaign Ribbon.


Jackson served appointments at Bellefon-taine, Hickory Flat, Smithville, Crenshaw-Sledge, Roxie Charge, Washington-Church Hill, Lorman Charge and Blue Hill-Cane Ridge. He attended First United Methodist Church in Purvis.


Survivors include: wife, Larine P. Jackson of Purvis; daughter, Annette J. Savell of Purvis; sisters, Otis Tolbert of Brandon and Wilma Snow of Philadelphia; brothers, W.B. Jackson of Meridian and J.B. Jackson of Louisville; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
