'Sing Across the Walls!'

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the lands!” - Psalm 100:1

The mission theme of the 2007 Mississippi Conference School of Christian Mission is glorious: Sing Across the Walls!

From Miriam’s circle of women singing and playing tambourines across the parted sea to David dancing before the Ark to Paul and Silas singing in prison, God’s people have lifted voices to praise God. In doing so, we have gained strength and courage.

The singing of the 2007 Annual Conference was inspirational. It was also instructive.

I hope that every local church will celebrate this year the hymns of Charles Wesley. We know them in every church and we love them.

I hope that every local church will sing as they gather for nurture, for decisions, for community. There are few places that people sing together. There is power in voices united in song.

Singing unites us, fortifies us, blesses us.

I hope that you will be a part of the 2007 School of Christian Mission July 18-20 at Rust College. Let us all learn from the theme as we sing across the walls!
