Baddour theater group to present play in June


The Baddour Center’s Wonder Players will perform Rock Around the Block in five performances in June.


The musical, sponsored by Smith & Nephew, Inc. of Memphis, has performances scheduled for 7 p.m. June 21-23 and at 2 p.m. June 23-24 in the auditorium at John Dustin Buckman Enrichment Activity Center located on The Baddour Center campus in Senatobia.


The Wonder Players, who are residents of The Baddour Center, auditioned for the play in October and have been rehearsing for the performances since January. All 54 members of the Wonder Players will perform during the play.


“The residents are doing great,” said Lori Parker, expressive arts manager at The Baddour Center, “and they’re so excited.


“We make the scenery and props, and most of the costumes.


Rock Around the Block is set in the 1950s, and is produced by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc. of Englewood, Colo. 


Seating is limited for the performances. Tickets should be reserved and are available at no charge. There is no limit to the number of tickets you can reserve. However, the number you receive will depend on the number of seats available for that performance. Tickets will be held at the door beginning the week prior to performances.


The Baddour Center is a residential community for adults with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities. It is located at 3297 Highway 51 South in Senatobia.
