Rev. Harley Krause, retired pastor


BOONEVILLE — The Rev. Harley Henry Krause, 84, a retired pastor, died Nov. 20, 2006, at Magnolia Regional Health Center.


Services were held Nov. 23 at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. C.D. Edge and the Rev. Bobby Hankins officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers were members of VFW Post 4877.


He was born Nov. 26, 1921, in Bonduel, Wis. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He graduated from Eastern Baptist Seminary, Reformed Episcopal Seminary and Emory University, and received master’s degrees in history and theology from the University of Maryland.


He preached for more than 50 years. He was a missionary in Derby Line, Vt., and throughout Southwest Virginia, and was pastor four years at Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church in Corinth. He was a volunteer chaplain at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville and at local nursing homes.


He was a volunteer with the Baptist Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Booneville, the Methodist Men, the Lions Club and VFW Post 4877.


He was preceded in death by his mother, Selma Krause Moesch; his stepfather, Elroy Moesch; a brother, Wallace Moesch; and a grandchild, Jessica Krause.


Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Blanche Alice Krause; son, Philip Krause; daughter, Rebecca Walker; brothers, Duke Moesch and Jason Moesch; sisters, Dolores Denna and Arbutus Olsen; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
