Edwards Street Fellowship Center names director

Laura Goodwin-Wright has been named director of the Edwards Street Fellowship Center (ESFC) in Hattiesburg.

Goodwin-Wright is a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. For several years she worked with the Mississippi Department of Public Health. Her experience includes peer counseling, adult education, Girl Scouts and public speaking. She is an active leader and volunteer with the La Leche League.

ESFC began in 1979 as a ministry of the Mississippi Annual Conference. Located in an urban area of south Hattiesburg, ESFC’s motto is “Feeding His Sheep and Tending His Lambs.” Currently its most active ministry is the food pantry which serves more than 100 families per week. Activities have included tutoring for area students, Girl Scouts and women’s programs.

Goodwin-Wright said priorities for the next several months include physical maintenance projects, fund raising and the installation of computer work stations to be used by students and the adults who participate in learning opportunities. Assistance in setting up the computer work stations will be provided one weekend in September by students from the Wesley Foundation of Northwest Community College.

ESFC depends heavily on volunteer participation and donations from individuals and churches of the Mississippi Conference. To have Goodwin-Wright speak at a church or to make a donation of time and/or money, call ESFC at 601-544-6149 or email LLGWright@aol.com. Checks may be sent to ESFC, P.O. Box 17532, Hattiesburg, MS 39404. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
