Tina Hilton Loflin, homemaker


STAR — Tina Hilton Loflin, 97, died June 20, 2006 at Briar Hill Rest Home near Florence.


Services were held June 23 at Wesleyanna United Methodist Church with burial in Wesleyanna Cemetery in Star. Her grandsons and great-grandsons served as pallbearers. Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence handled arrangements.


Mrs. Loflin was the mother of the Rev. Jack Loflin and the grandmother of the Rev. Vicki Loflin Hughes, both clergy members of the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Church.

The daughter of Drury and Mattie Booth Hilton, Mrs. Loflin was born and raised in Star. She married Milton Howard Loflin of Star and they had five children. A devoted wife and mother, she worked beside her husband on their farm until his death in 1967.

A member of Wesleyanna United Methodist Church, Mrs. Loflin was a retired seamstress and musician.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her daughter, Janie Loflin; sisters, Ruth Bryant and Viola Hilton, and brothers, Lester, Otto and Wiley Hilton.

Other survivors include: son, Jan Loflin of Jackson; daughters, Patsy Phillips and Jennie Walker, both of Star; brother, Troy Hilton of Pearl; sister, Addie Knauss of Hammond, Ind.; and 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
