LOUISVILLE - The Rev. Howard L. Hathorn, 82, died March 30, 2006, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.

Services were held April 2 at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Childs officiating. Burial was in Flower Ridge Cemetery. Porter Funeral Home of Louisville handled arrangements.

Rev. Hathorn was born July 12, 1923, in Winston County. He married Clyde Whiteside on Dec. 22, 1950. He was a 1942 graduate of Louisville High School. He attended Wood Junior College and graduated from Mississippi State University. He received his theological education at Emory University. He was a retired United Methodist minister. He served churches at Derma, Buena Vista, Vernon-Palmetto, Inverness-Isola, Macon, Houston, Aberdeen and Louisville and, after retiring, he served the West Louisville Charge for 13 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association, and a member and past president of the Mississippi Polled Hereford Association.

Survivors include: wife, Clyde Whiteside Hathorn of Louisville; daughter, Dana Lee Norman of Houston; son, the Rev. Dale Hathorn of Corinth; and five grandchildren.
