Miss Mississippi to visit Acona


Miss Mississippi Kristian Dambrino will be the guest speaker when Acona United Methodist Church celebrates is 132nd homecoming.

The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. April 23.

Dambrino has written and copyrighted more than 50 original songs, written two original plays and recorded her first album of 14 original songs entitled Red Mind. She has starred in numerous plays and recently recorded vocal parts for a Mississippi Highway Safety curriculum designed by Delta State University professor Dr. James Robinson.

Dambrino, whose grandmother lost her Pascagoula home, has also been active in raising funds to rebuild the Gulf Coast. She has performed at numerous fund-raising events. She has written and recorded a song, Pearlington’s Prayer, and produced a DVD to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief.

The Rev. Ricky Reese will open the service, and a covered dish dinner will follow.

Acona UMC is located north of Lexington.
