Mississippi United Methodists can be a blessing to the Methodist Children’s Homes, MCH, this holiday season. Through the Little Light of Mine special offering and Adopt a Child gift drive, Methodist congregations can help sustain facilities and operations, and make sure children in the care of MCH have a Merry Christmas.

The Little Light of Mine special offering can be collected on December 10, the Special Sunday dedicated to the Methodist Children’s Homes, or at any time congregations choose to collect an offering for MCH. The offering supports the daily operations of the facility and allows MCH to provide care for hundreds of children.

Another giving opportunity at MCH is the Adopt a Child gift drive. The drive allows people to sponsor a youth at MCH and fulfill their Christmas wish list. The gifts received will bring joy to many youths who have not had the type of

Christmas most young people get to enjoy. Jessica Senter, MCH director of development explains the importance of support from Mississippi United Methodists.

“The Christmas holiday is a very important time of year,” said Senter. “We have many youths in our care who have not experienced a good Christmas. We are looking forward to donors to help make their Christmas happy and memorable.”

The district leadership team of the East and West Jackson districts chose to be a blessing to MCH at their 2023 charge conference. During worship, an offering was taken to benefit the children’s home. Rev. Fred Britton, East/West Jackson district superintendent, describes the district’s desire to benefit MCH.

“Sending the worship offering to the children’s home was a unanimous decision,” said Britton. “East and West Jackson members were excited this donation would make a loving impact on the lives of the children at the Methodist Children’s Homes.”

This Christmas season Mississippi United Methodists can shine the light of Christ on the children and staff of MCH and provide Christmas memories that will last a lifetime.
