Register Now, Pick Up CEUs from Festival of Preaching

Mississippi Conference clergy,

You are invited to join your brothers and sisters in ministry for a time of reflection and renewal as we strengthen our prophetic voices and gifts during the 2022 Mississippi Annual Conference Festival of Preaching. This is a hybrid Zoom event and those joining in person will be hosted by St. Mark United Methodist Church at 400 Grants Ferry Road in Brandon February 10-11, 2022

In recognition of our ongoing desire to provide safe places, we are limiting our in-person attendance to 200. Breakout sessions will also have limited capacity, and participants will make those decisions when they arrive on the campus. The cost for in-person registration is $150 and includes lunch for Friday, February 11 and 1.5 CEUs.

For those who desire to join us online, our plenary sessions with Bishop Lewis will be streamed live. Online registration will cost $50 and .5 CEUs will be available. The deadline to register is Friday, February 4, 2022.

Bishop Swanson will also be leading a master class on Thursday and Friday around the importance of preaching in times of transition, especially in starting strong and ending well. Bishop Sharma Lewis, resident bishop of the Virginia Conference and a dear friend of the Mississippi Conference, will keynote this event. Those of you who have heard Bishop Lewis preach know what a powerful instrument she is for the Kingdom. She is a sought-after preacher and evangelist all throughout our global connection. She will be joined by our own Bishop Swanson for a special “tag team” sermon to close our time on Friday.

In addition to some engaging breakouts by some of your colleagues from across the connection, we are also pleased to join with the faith community formation office to welcome back Jason Moore for a continuation of his “Both/And Hybrid Worship” training. He will be presenting a special master class Friday that is a great follow-up for webinar work he did with many of you in 2021. For those who missed this training, Jason will also be a regular breakout leader.

As an extra special gift, Bishop Lewis will be leading two webinars for us that week. Monday, February 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Bishop Lewis will be leading Bishop Talk Webinar: Clergy Women. This special time will be an opportunity for her to share her wisdom and experiences with her sisters in ministry. Then Tuesday, February 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Bishop Lewis will be leading a second online gathering--Bishop Talk Webinar: Growing a Church-- for all conference clergy on growing a church in spirit and in number. This will be an enriching opportunity for clergy to glean from someone who has served and led churches of all sizes and ethnicities.

Proclaiming the Gospel of Christ and love is paramount to the work that we are called to do in building the Kingdom. No matter how gifted we may be, preaching always deserves our very best. Join us as we learn and celebrate and renew our hearts and minds and spirits as we walk humbly with our God.
