General Conference 2020

 

General Conference is the top policy-making body of The United Methodist Church, which meets once every four years. The conference can revise church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy and economic issues. It also approves plans and budgets for church-wide programs.

General Conference 101 - The purpose of General Conference 101 is to provide clarity on what exactly General Conference is, why we have General Conference and how what happens at General Conference impacts your local church.

Mississippi Conference Delegation - At General Conference, the delegates will meet in committees and as an entire body. The alternates will fill in as designated by the leader of the delegation. 

General Conference 2020 Prayer Resource - each Sunday our congregations are invited to join in this communal prayer.

How are General Conference Delegates Chosen? - Each annual conference in Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States elects an equal number of clergy and laity to be among the 600 to 1,000 delegates to General Conference.
