Workshop: Change VS Transition

Nearly every church I’ve coached in the last 4 years has said, “Change is hard and no one likes it!” While this may be true to some extent, I believe, as William Bridges says, that the actual change in and of itself is not terribly difficult to experience; what is often more painful for both individuals and organizations is the transition from the old thing to the new thing.
Drawing from the work of William Bridges, Gil Rendle, Lisa Lehay and Robert Kegan, this workshop will explore the difference between change and transition. We will also discuss strategies to manage transitions well so that individuals and churches can experience that sense of purpose, energy and identity that makes new change begin to work.
