Director of Children’s Ministry   (St. Matthew’s UMC)

Director of Children’s Ministry St. Matthew’s UMC in Madison has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Children’s Ministry. This is an established position in a thriving program, church, and growing community.

The position includes three primary areas of responsibility: mission, family-based discipleship, and team leadership. These include providing spiritual care and mentorship for the Children’s Ministry Team and Weekday Ministry, and connecting the Children’s Ministry to other ministries in the church and community. It also includes working with the Children’s Ministry Team to develop and accomplish the goals and vision of Children’s Ministry at St. Matthew’s UMC.
The ideal candidate possesses the vision, values, work ethic and deeply rooted faith in Jesus Christ to take our children’s ministry program to the next level.  This can be achieved through the empowerment of parents and working collaboratively with other children’s ministry leaders to further develop an environment at St. Matthew’s where children can become committed followers of Jesus Christ.
The position is fulltime with benefits and reports to one of the Associate Pastors. All candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development or related field and a minimum of three years’ current, related experience; faith-based children’s ministry program highly preferred.  A combination of formal education and related experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.   The successful candidate must embrace United Methodist doctrine and theology and live and model servant leadership. Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as conflict management, program planning, and computer/technology skills are all necessary to be successful. Position requires a proven ability to work effectively with children, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers.  Current certification in, or willingness to become, Child and Infant CPR/First Aid and training/certification in the use of Epi-pens is required.  A copy of the job description will be provided for all qualified candidates.
