Communication Specialist First United Methodist Church, Clinton


First United Methodist Church is seeking a Communication Specialist who will work with its Communications Committee and church staff to communicate effectively the message of First United Methodist Church. The Communication Specialist will be responsible for creating print and digital graphics for events, ministries, web, social media, signs and banners, marketing pieces, pictorial directory, etc.

Candidates must have graphic design and print skills, photography skills (video skills a plus), and be able to write clearly and proofread own work product and that of others.  Candidates must be able to work under deadlines with fast turnaround, maintain flexibility, and accept constructive feedback. The ideal candidate will be creative and innovative, and willing to take ownership of projects. The candidate must be self-disciplined and motivated, and able to work well individually and collaboratively.  The Communication Specialist must be available for occasional travel as well as evening and weekend work for special events and services.
Web — leads all efforts related to the creation of content for the church's website; ensures the content is consistent, up-to-date, and relevant.
Promotions — creates communication strategies to market, inform and promote all internal and external church campaigns related to the ministries, services, events, and outreach.
Social Media — manages ongoing social media messages; works to build followings on various social media outlets following approved social media guidelines. 
Design & Brand Management — leads efforts to maintain a high level of quality, creativity, and consistency regarding the look and feel of all materials representing the church. 
Education Requirements: Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications or other related field.
Recommended college courses: Writing, layout, graphic design, photography, social media, and advertising.
Experience:  Prefer at least three years’ work experience in a communications capacity but will consider a recent college graduate. Experience in a ministry setting (church, camp, etc). is a plus.
