Children’s Minister (Part-Time)

Children’s Minister Opening (Part-Time)
Minor Memorial United Methodist Church
Walls, MS (near Memphis, TN)
Minor Memorial UMC in Walls, MS (near Memphis, TN) is seeking a part-time Children’s Minister to work with children from infant through 6th grade.  The Children’s Minister will build upon and strengthen a children’s program which currently involves about 40-50 children who participate in Sunday school, Wednesday night Kids for Christ, children’s church, and special events.  This is a new position being created for a ministry which has previously been run by volunteers. Our hope is to find a Children’s Minister who, in addition to programming, can build a team of volunteers that can work within a unified vision of helping children in our community begin a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ and grow as disciples of Jesus.  The potential for growth, both numerically and spiritually, is limitless, but we need someone with the time, passion, and enthusiasm to lead the way.
Candidates must have a personal commitment to, and enthusiasm for, the Christian faith and possess a unique sense of calling to work with children.  Candidates should be able to build relationships and effectively communicate with children, their families, and staff.  Preferred candidates will have an Associate’s degree or higher, previous experience working with children in the local church, and a solid understanding of United Methodist theology and doctrine.
Time commitment includes Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings in addition to special events and preparation/study time.  Please send resumes or direct questions to Rev. Amanda Gordon, 6120 Goodman Rd W, Walls, MS 38680 or or 662-781-1333.  A full job description is available upon request.
