Accounting Clerk This position is integral to the core of our service to United Methodist churches in Mississippi. Responsibilities include a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks. Accuracy is of utmost importance. Successful candidate will be responsible for calculating and recording of day to day accounting transactions for company operations as well as deposits, withdrawals, and disbursements for underlying client accounts. Candidate will support the Treasurer in accounting for transactions involving Foundation investments.
Duties of Accounting Clerk:
Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as: funds received and disbursed
Reconciles accounting records to supporting documentation
Recommends actions to resolve discrepancies
Investigates questionable data
Extracts general ledger information and compiles accounting reports and account statements
Assists Treasurer with monthly, quarterly, and annual transactions, statements, and reports
Responds to customer inquiries verbally and in writing
Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Work well with others
3 years experience in accounting
Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Comfortable learning new accounting and trust software applications
Organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Knowledge of financial services industry
Trust accounting experience
Comfortable operating a variety of office equipment
