Highlight on Choctaw Mission and the Brookhaven District at General Conference!

4/29/2012

On Sunday evening, April 29, the children of Choctaw Mission and the mission giving of the Brookhaven District will be highlighted in the Celebration of Mission and Ministry at General Conference.

Photographs of children of Choctaw on the Sunday of their baptism will be shown as a radiant example of our mission impact in evangelism and nurture. The Brookhaven District will be recognized for the remarkable support of The Advance - the channel of mission giving of The United Methodist Church.

As a result of Advance interpretation in every charge conference in 2009, the Brookhaven District moved from 9% participation in 2008 to 100% in 2010. 14,000 disaster response buckets, health kits and school kits have been prepared and given by the district. That is one per member in Brookhaven!

100% of every dollar given through The Advance is received by the designation mission. Your mission shares and the apportionments of the entire connection of United Methodists sustain the administration of the gifts. I know of no other mission organization that can make this claim.

Tune in online (go to www.umc.org and click on "Live Streaming," or click here>>) on Sunday evening at 6:00 CDT for the Mission Celebration at General Conference. As President of The Advance 2008-2012, it will be my joy to highlight several missions, including Choctaw Mission and Brookhaven District.

With gratitude for our partnership in Christ's mission,
Hope Morgan Ward
