2012 Annual Conference: Award Deadlines Approaching

The Harry Denman Evangelism Award
The MS Annual Conference is now accepting nominations for The Harry Denman Evangelism Award for Clergy, Lay, and Youth. The Harry Denman Evangelism Award recognizes a person whose life and ministry exemplifies the teaching of Christ and the Great Commission. Recipients of these awards, nominated by individuals, churches, or districts, and selected by the Annual Conference, live their call to "Offer Them Christ" daily as modeled by Dr. Harry Denman, founder of The Foundation for Evangelism that sponsors these awards. Nominations must be received no later than April 27th to be considered for the 2012 awards.

Emma K. Elzy Award
For Outstanding Achievement in Race Relations
The Conference Commission on Religion and Race is currently receiving nominations for the Emma K. Elzy Award. The Elzy Award encourages reconciliation by honoring an individual, group, or institution that has shown outstanding achievement in race relations in the state of Mississippi. The Award will be presented at the 2012 session of the Mississippi Annual Conference.

Although United Methodists may receive preference, the selection process does not exclude persons or agencies from other denominations or faith traditions. Neither members of Conference Commission on Religion and Race nor directly related conference staff is eligible for the award.

To nominate an individual, group, or institution, please submit in writing the biographical/historical information and a letter of endorsement stating why this person should be considered for this award.
