Gleanings: Healthy Congregations

At the 2012 Annual Conference, we will recognize "Healthy Congregations": congregations who give themselves in service to others, promoting abundant life and wellness for all.

How has your church been a place of gospel-movement, giving yourselves away in ministries of health and wellness?

In the Service of Healing, we pray that God will heal us of all illness -- body, mind, spirit, and relationships that we may serve God with a willing heart. The Annual Conference looks forward to recognizing your church as you acknowledge four ways in which you have been engaged in wellness ministries since June, 2011.

The mystery of the Gospel is that we find ourselves by losing ourselves. Therefore, the movement of Lent is downward: we die to ourselves in order to live to God. We empty ourselves and are filled. We give and find ourselves receiving.

May all our churches live the great Gospel mystery and find ourselves as we love ourselves in ministry with others.
