Local Pastor Licensing School

New Format Started July 2011

In July 2011 the Mississippi Conference Board of Ordained Ministry began offering Licensing School in conjunction with the Course of Study Extension School at Millsaps College. This format allows those seeking licensing to participate in the community of local pastors and to begin a pattern of theological education essential to effective licensed ministry. Successful completion of all courses is required for licensing as a local pastor. Ideally, participants will participate in all eight weekends over one year. Participants may begin their work toward licensing with any course.

Registration Deadline:         one month prior to first session of the course

Cost*:
            Registration Fee:         $50 per course (MS Conference Certified Candidates)
                                                $100 per course (Non-MS Conference Certified Candidates)
            Housing:
                        Single:             $150 per course
                        Shared:           $ 75 per course
For housing purposes Church Leadership and Christian Education are ONE course.

Students will also be responsible for purchasing required textbooks from Cokesbury. Information will provided upon confirmation of registration.

Pre-requisites for registration:

High School Diploma or GED
certified candidate – by action of DCOM and reflected in OCAS
recommendation and approval of District Superintendent

Cancellations should be made no later than two weeks prior to the beginning of class. In cases of illness or emergency, refunds or credit for registration fees may be issued at the discretion of the Director of Ministerial Services.
