The United Methodist Church has a long history of concern for social justice. "Grateful for God's forgiving love, in which we live and by which we are judged, and affirming our belief in the inestimable worth of each individual, we renew our commitment to become faithful witnesses to the gospel, not alone to the ends of earth, but also to the depths of our common life and work," states the preamble of the Social Principles.
Through Congregations for Children, Mississippi United Methodists join other people of faith in working for the well-being of all children. Racial reconciliation is one of five key initiatives for the Mississippi Conference. The United Methodist Women advocate for justice for women, youth, and children around the world. These are just some of the ways United Methodists are working for social justice.
