From the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry
As part of MyCallStory.org, Higher Education and Ministry asked United Methodists around the world to record a video explaining why they feel called to do the work they do, and submit their story in the #IAmCalled contest.
With a moving video entry, Maria Niechwiadowicz explained God’s call on her life and won the Higher Education and Ministry’s #IAmCalled contest. Maria’s call story video will be featured at General Conference 2016.
Maria is a Global Mission Fellow and she is serving a two-year term as an English teacher with the Amity Foundation in China. Maria teaches English classes at Ningxia Teacher's University, leads English song workshops, and enjoys cooking with her students during her free time.
Originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Maria holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre and a religion minor from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska. She has worked for the university ministries program at her school, and for the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, Nebraska and First Presbyterian in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
She will return to the USA in May and end her time as a Global Mission Fellow in August 2016. For more information about Maria’s experience, visit her blog at marianiechgmf.wordpress.com or click here to watch Maria’s thoughtful and inspiring call story!
