Protecting Our Churches: Festival and Carnival Risk Management Tips

Many churches are doing what they can to reach out and attract young people to their churches and youth activities. They are engaging in different types of activities that will attract young people.
 
Often we find that festivals and carnivals are ways to get new and existing youth involved in the church. It is important, though, to remember the issues that come along with hosting these events.
 
The following are several safety issues to address when putting on a festival or carnival.
 
Plan
Any time a church is planning on an activity that is outside its normal scope of ministry, extra planning is needed. Writing up a plan that addresses safety, equipment, training, supervision, transportation and any other aspect of the event should take place with a ministry team.
