What is your vision for UMM of Mississippi?
We can't be everything to everybody. But whatever we do, we'll exceed expectations. Boy Scouts, Stop Hunger Now, educating on domestic violence and increasing on Sunday workday activities will be our main areas of emphasis. Each district will have additional areas of emphasis, which will be determined by their leadership teams.
What excites you about serving in this role?
We will be working to serve the men of our conference and help us grow in our faith. There are numerous ways to do this and we plan to offer many opportunities for growth.
How can others be helpful in fulfilling the vision?
Others can be helpful by simply choosing an area of interest and participating. As we find and offer ways for men to be involved; the Spirit will encourage us and assure success. Chartering local chapters is crucial, along with more men becoming part of the Evangelism, Mission and Spiritual Life Ministry, also known EMS.
What is the name of your church and share with us any activities you are involved in there?
I am a member of First UMC, Columbus. My activities include UMM and adult leader in our youth program. I am in my 14th year teaching youth Sunday school and have served on numerous church committees.
Tell us about your family.
I am married to Kathy. We'll celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary this August. Our children are Mary Kathryn, 24, and Josh, 22.
