Methodist Le Bonheur Communications
With the continued expansion of its secure online patient portal, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (MLH) becomes the largest Memphis-based hospital healthcare system to provide patients an online portal so they can actively manage their healthcare, safely and securely online.
The portal, myMethodist is an online health management tool for patients that allow patients to access important health information at their convenience. Through the MLH patient portal, patients can request appointments, pay their bill, view their electronic health record, request a prescription refill, review lab and test results, as well as communicate directly with their physician through the Health eShare Direct Project, a secure email-like service.
MLH first went live with their electronic medical record in 2000. Using the same electronic medical record over a number of years allows patients to have access to historical information, which is particularly beneficial to patients with long-term medical conditions.
"We're focused on collaborating with our patients and their families to help them be more active participants in their care," said Alastair MacGregor, MD, senior vice president and chief healthcare information officer for MLH. "myMethodist is a convenient way for patients to have secure access to information at their convenience on their computer, tablet or smart phone."
"Better communications with patients is a key component to delivering the highest-quality care," said Michael Ugwueke, executive vice president and COO for MLH. "Patients and their families are growing more accustomed to doing things online. myMethodist just gives us another tool to engage patients in better coordinating their care and help them in managing their health."
