The hashtag appropriately named -- #gathering2014 -- set off a string of responses on social media from youth attending a weekend event called "The Gathering" sponsored by the Mississippi Annual Conference. The theme was "Mind Games." From Twitter to Instagram young people and their youth leaders connected using the hashtag key words to express their thoughts about what they were experiencing.

Some of the comments included:

"Nothing better than gathering with over 850 Jesus lovers in one big room worshiping and praising Him shamelessly"

"Yeah, my voice is gone. But it's totally worth it! Worship is awesome!"

"Praying the Adventure Club youth from Fairview UMC are having an awesome time at The Gathering in Jackson!"

"I don't know you people...but I know Jesus and so do you! Let's be friends."

"If you love Jesus then I love you."

"Ready for Day 2 of the gathering."

One young person posted on twitter "one of the most amazing weekends ever" and in a matter of minutes it was retweeted by the United Methodist Collegiate Ministry out of Nashville, Tennessee, which offers resources and training for United Methodist campus ministers. Indeed word was spreading quickly about the great happening in Mississippi.

Among the social media remarks were many blessings and thanks to the presenters. Rev. Olu Brown was the speaker, Steve Fee and the band led worship and Curt Anderson an illusionist provided entertainment.

"Beautiful message tonight Olu. There's that Body of Christ"

"So I met this great Illusionists tonight!! And talk about AMAZING!!"

"Pumped to be at #gathering2014. Got to hang with Steve Fee"

The Gathering Student Conference is a ministry designed for the young people of the Mississippi United Methodist Conference. This event formally known as MYAC was February 28, 2014 - March 2, 2014 at Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, Mississippi.

Pictures from "The Gathering" can be viewed here on Flickr. The conference extended a special thanks to youth volunteer photographers, Bailey Shelton and Madison Smith.

In the final worship, the youth were reminded despite all the cool lights and entertainment, the weekend was about Jesus.

In closing for this article a tweet from the hashtag, "All I can say is Amen."
