Mississippi United Methodists are being asked to give generously during the church offering on Mother's Day, May 12, to support the programs of the Methodist Senior Services.
For 50 years, Methodist Senior Services has been providing a special place for elders to live in comfort. In twelve locations throughout Mississippi, MSS strives to be affordable for the average Mississippian. Their mission is to serve older adults in the spirit of Christian love.
MSS shares a rich heritage with the Mississippi Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, whose dreams led to the birth of Methodist Senior Services several decades ago. Today, both share a commitment to hold the wisdom and experience of God's older children in high esteem.
"Because of the partnership with the churches in the Mississippi Conference we have never been forced to turn away an elder in need. The United Methodist church support is vital," said Steve McAlilly, president and CEO of Methodist Senior Services.
He also said that one of an elder's greatest fears is running out of money. "The Sunday Fund eliminates that fear for our residents. One hundred percent of the Sunday Fund goes directly to assist an elder in financial need," said McAlilly.
Since MSS is a faith-based, not-for-profit organization, a large percentage of their funds come from people like the United Methodists. The financial support makes a huge difference in the lives of residents who need benevolent care.
According to MSS, they have distributed promotional materials to area United Methodist churches and have plans to send out a Sunday Fund DVD before Mother's Day. People are welcome to call MSS toll-free for more information at 1-888-488-4414 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
