Nashville, Tenn. - The United Methodist Insurance Company (UMI) board of directors elected Charles D. Hamilton as President of the organization. Mr. Hamilton will assume his position immediately.
Mr. Hamilton brings experience as a financial and administrative executive and significant insurance leadership to UMI. He has been instrumental in maintaining quality controls and increases in profitability. He has been an integral part of the growth and sustainability initiatives in the organizations in which he has served. Mr. Hamilton earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Cornell University and a Bachelor's Degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
Prior to joining UMI, Mr. Hamilton worked for a well-respected Nashville non-profit as CFO. Before that, he served for more than 30 years in the insurance business in underwriting and consulting as well as senior financial and administrative roles.
UMI Board member Janice Hackett says "With a background in insurance and finance, Chuck brings strong skills to our organization. His leadership will enable UMI to prosper and to fulfill its mission of supporting our churches."

United Methodist Insurance Company is a captive insurance company wholly owned by the General Council on Finance and Administration of the United Methodist Church (GCFA). The goal of the work of UMI is to enhance ministries of the local church in the areas of administration and allow churches to use valuable resources for ministry.
Rev. Patricia Youngquist, Deputy General Secretary-Operations for GCFA will transition away from the role of CEO of UMI. The board thanked Pat for standing in at a crucial time in its development and as the organization organizes itself for increased efficiencies.
