Frank Michael Newell was among 57 men and women who recently graduated from Memphis Theological Seminary. Newell received a Master of Divinity degree. He currently serves as pastor of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Tupelo.
The commencement service was held May 16 at First Baptist Church in Memphis. The Rev. Perryn Rice, associate minister of Plans and Programs at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Cookeville, Tenn., delivered the commencement address, “They Called Her Queen Esther.” Graduates recognized included those who completed their degree requirements during the 2008-2009 academic year. Nine candidates received the Master of Arts (Religion) degree, 43 received the Master of Divinity degree and five received the Doctor of Ministry, which is the highest degree attainable in the practice of ministry.
Memphis Theological Seminary is an ecumenical mission of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and is approved by the University Senate of the United Methodist Church.
