Women at Starkville New Zion United Methodist Church recently helped a high school student collect items for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
The women have a history of helping others, especially children. Cooper Kennard, a student at Starkville High School spearheaded the project. After learning about it, Helen Adorn, president of the UMW, presented it to the group. The women joined the effort and began giving funds.
Within a month the group collected monetary gifts that were used to purchased the much needed items such as jell-o cups, juices, snack cakes, snack crackers, cookies, toboggans, lip gloss, coloring books, markers, workbooks, note pads, headbands, pens, posters, socks, crayons, paperback books and puzzles.
The items were given to Kennard for delivery to St. Jude.
